Mollie J – For Sale

Mollie J is only for sale because a bigger boat is arriving. I’ve owned her for nearly two years now, and honestly, I can’t speak highly enough of what a platform this under 7m boat is.

During my first winter of ownership, I gave her a massive overhaul. This included cutting the shelter deck off, making the deck completely flush with no hatches, and fitting a net hauler up at the bow.

The weather we’ve pushed through and the gear we’ve hauled in a boat of this size has been amazing. The combination of her flush deck and wide beam gives you a huge working area and a really stable platform to work from. I’ll genuinely be sad to see her go.

Fishing-wise, she’s proved herself time and time again.

We work strings of 45 whelk pots. When netting, we’ve had six bins of gear out to shoot. You can feel the weight, of course, but she’s always been a fantastic little boat for hauling gear and getting on with the day.

You’ve always got to remember you’re working from an under 7m boat, but when you’re aboard Mollie J, she really doesn’t feel like it.

There’s probably plenty more I could say about her, but the best thing is to come and have a look for yourself.
