CLASSIC SAILING VESSEL FOR SALE
Once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase a truly Classic Schooner Rig Deep Water Cruising vessel. Formerly a Danish fishing vessel, massively constructed in oak, having undergone a major rebuild programme and now ready for installation of masts, rigging and sails to complete a magnificent classic seaworthy sailing vessel
Construction: mainly oak – larch planking above waterline – columbian pine deck
Originally built as a twin masted gaff ketch fitted with a two stroke diesel engine. Decommissioned circa 1976. Imported into uk in 1976. I believe she was refitted with another engine by Vosper Thornycroft in Southampton.
Details from Danish Ship Registry Call Sign OWHG: Built in 1928 by NIPPERS of SKAGEN
I have rebuilt her from the waterline up, new beams, new upper ribs, new deck, hatches etc, Refastened completely, recaulked apart from garboard seams (I have all the oakum required).
Below deck is partially fitted out, engine is hooked up but needs batteries, fuel tanks etc.
Galley equipped with BLAKES TAYLOR marine gas cooker.
Rebuild details:
The deck is solid circa 2in Columbian pine fastened with stainless 316 A4 screws
Deck seams are caulked with traditional cotton caulking (multi strand) and seams sealed with Sikaflex 290DC Pro Deck Caulk.
Hull planks are stopped with Shell Tixophalte Wet Seal & Fix Bitumen Water Proof Sealant over Swedish oakum
Planks are fastened with Glasgow Nail Co traditional galvanised rose head boat nails
I have replaced a good number of the beams with laminated iroko ( I built a 15ft jig specifically for this to obtain the correct camber), the ones not replaced are the original oak and are all in good condition
