Construction worker in a Shore Based Position
I joined a project which involved a large alteration to the original house. My key roles included painting, assisting in carpentry, fibreglass installation on roofs, demolition, siliconing and cleaning the site workspace. Additionally, the use of power tools daily allowed me to gain a proficiency in handling them.

deckhand on a 15m (49ft) Sailing Yacht called Conviction
Conviction is a charter catamaran which had an openminded captain. It allowed me the opportunity to learn skills outside sorely deck roles. My roles included polishing, washing the deck, driving the tender and regular maintenance on the equipment, giving me understanding in AIS and Navionics. Outside of my regular duties I performed maintenance on both engines as well as the sewerage and water systems. The diversity in my roles allowed me to find my calling in engineering and what lead me to do my AEC 1. Additionally, watchkeeping was distributed amongst the crew members which allowed to gain experience watchkeeping during day and night hours. As the trip was done over a long period of time, from Corsica to Tunisia and then to Genoa, it allowed me to gain experience in anchoring in shallow and sometimes harsh conditions.

barmen/waiter on a 16m (52ft) Motor Yacht for The Sabrina Boat
The Sabrina boat is it coal barge converted into a tour boat by day and a party boat by night. The Sabrina could also be hired for private events such as staff parties or for any other occasion. My responsibilities included engaging with guests on daily basis as well as learning bartending skills and stock control, I was also involved in the preparation and clean up for events. As the boat was docked and undocked about 10 times a day it allowed me to gain experience in this process. A supervisory role was offered to me before I left this position however I declined as it clashed with my final A-level exams.

15th Feb 2017 - 20th Aug 2020 (3 years, 6 months)
Crew on a 5m (16ft) Fishing Vessel
The boat is a privately owned fishing vessel skippered by the owner and my roles included: Setting up rods and reels, baiting up, cleaning the vessel, catching fish, and sorting and delivering fish to clients. Through these responsibilities I feel I have developed a good understanding when it comes to currents, different winds, reefs, and different species of fish. I have fished with the owner for many years constantly learning from him.
